How to add outlines of other floors in the building while creating a floor plan

Updated over a week ago

Use case for Outlines

The "Outlines" feature is a valuable tool in creating floor plans, especially in multi-story buildings, as it helps you see the outlines of the previous or relevant floors. This feature allows you to maintain context and alignment in your design. By having a visual reference to the outlines of other floors, you can ensure that your new floor plan fits seamlessly with the rest of the building, maintaining design consistency and accuracy. This is particularly important when working on architectural projects with multiple levels, as it helps you create a cohesive and well-coordinated design.

Select Outlines

To access the "Outlines" feature in the 2D view, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Floor Level in the 2D view.

  2. Locate the Global Preferences and Settings bar in the bottom left corner of the screen.

  3. Click on the "Floor" icon within the Global Preferences and Settings bar.

  4. In the panel that opens, click on "Floor Outlines." This option will show only if you have multiple floors in your design.

  5. You will see a list of all the floors created in the design, as well as "World/Terrain."

  6. To view the outlines of a specific floor or level, click on the name of that floor. If you want to see the outlines of objects on the "World" level, click on "World/Terrain."

  7. You can adjust the darkness of the outline by clicking on the floor or level name. The outlines will become darker with each click.

This feature allows you to control the visibility and darkness of outlines, making it easier to work on specific floors or understand the context of your design in relation to other floors and the world level.

Clear Outlines

To clear all outlines in the 2D view, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the "Floor Settings" icon located in the bottom left corner of the screen.

  2. In the panel that opens, click on "Floor Outlines."

  3. Click on "Clear All Outlines."

This action will remove all outlines, providing you with a clean view in the 2D workspace without any floor outlines.
