How to change spotlight direction?
How to change spotlight direction?
Updated over a week ago

To change spotlight direction, follow these steps:

  1. Select the light fixture to which the spot light is added. A red sphere, indicating the direction in which light will be thrown, will appear next to the light fixture. Navigate to the properties panel.

  2. Select the correct spotlight source from the Lights dropdown menu

  3. Open the advanced dropdown menu, and navigate to the Direction section.

  4. Against the light source in the design, there are three axes, in the form of arrows signifying the directions in which the spotlight direction could be shifted to. In the lefthand panel, the X, Y, and Z fields, signify the directions of the red, green and blue arrows respectively.

  5. Type in a positive value in a particular coordinate, in order to point the spotlight along its corresponding arrow direction. (eg. typing 1 into Y field points the direction along green arrow, ie. upwards).

Similarly, type in a negative value in a particular coordinate, in order to point the spotlight opposite its corresponding arrow direction. (eg. typing -1 into Y field points the direction opposite to the green arrow, ie. downwards).

Typing in 0 into a coordinate field will ensure the light does not point anywhere along that axis.

In this manner, you can put in different values into the X,Y and Z coordinates to point the spotlight towards any octant in the 3 dimensional graph of the light source.
