Align is for measuring the straight line distance between any two points/lines.

X/Y is for measuring the distance between two points along these two perpendicular directions. If you want to see the distance between two points in the X direction or the Y direction, pick this option.

Angular option is to measure the angle between any two lines.

Radial option is for curved walls. It measures the radius of the circle to which the arc belongs.
