Multiple board sizes for board layout

Updated over a week ago

You can now define multiple board sizes for a single core material, and even specify quantities to use for each size. This gives you more flexibility when optimizing materials, especially when your raw boards come in different standard sizes or when you want to reuse offcuts from other projects.

Use cases

1. Managing Multiple Board Sizes for a Core Material

In some cases you have core material which will come in multiple board sizes. For example, you have a prelam board that is available in 4x4 ft and 8x4 ft dimensions. You can now mention these board sizes available for the prelam in the admin portal.

Go to Admin portal > Hardware > Core material > Board size, and add the different available sizes.

In this case the software will assume there is indefinite boards available in the given sizes and optimise for the best case scenario for production.

2.Using a Specific Number of Sheets from Inventory for a project

In a scenario where you have a 4 prelam sheets of 4x4 ft dimension to be used in a project you can define that at a work order level. This can be done in both the design and MES portal.

In Design portal , Production > Layout > Settings > Add size > add quantity and MES portal published Work order> board layout> settings > Add size > add quantity

3.Reusing Offcuts from Other Projects
You can now easily reuse offcuts from previous projects.Just specify the size and quantity of the offcuts under the correct material, following the same steps as above. The optimizer will automatically include these offcuts in the layout calculation.
