Go to the "Global Preferences and Settings" bar in the bottom left corner of the workspace and click on the "Preferences" icon therein.

In the "Preferences" panel that opens, click on the drop-down menu under the "Select the Preferences" header.

Select the category for which you want to change the default properties. For example, you can choose "Walls" if you want to modify default wall properties.

Once you select a category, a panel of properties relevant to that category will open up. Here, you can adjust the default settings to your preferences.

After making the desired changes, close the panel by clicking on the "X" button at the top right corner.
