Using Dynamic Lines to create shapes

Updated over a week ago

Once you enter the Sketcher mode, you can start creating the edges that will define your shape. A shape is created when you create a closed area. You can create edges using different tools.

Dynamic edges

Dynamic Edges are those which are linked to the walls. If the wall moves, the dynamic edge will move along with it. For example, if you use dynamic edges to create the tiling of a room, and then move the walls of the room, the dynamic edges will also move along with the walls to create a new shape such that it fits the room.

Picking a space

The quickest way to create a shape is to pick the entire area of a closed room. To do so, click on the Pick icon in the quick tools menu. Now click inside the space where you want to create the shape. It will automatically pick the boundaries of the space, and add dynamic edges along these boundaries, thus creating the required shape.

Once a closed shape is formed, you will see its area shaded darker than the surroundings. Now click on Apply, and the shape is created.

Picking a line

Instead of picking the entire space, you can also pick a single wall to create one dynamic edge. To do so, click on the Pick icon in the quick tools menu. Now click on the wall along which you want to create the dynamic edge. An edge will be created linked to this wall. You can create multiple such edges to create a closed shape. Then click Apply.
