Creating a T-shaped roof

Updated over a week ago

To create a cross-hip roof, two intersecting hip roofs need to be made: one being the 'primary' hip roof to which the other roof is attaching, and the second, attaching roof as the 'secondary' hip roof.

For the PRIMARY ROOF, select the Roof icon from the Architecture ribbon.

  1. Once in the Roof Sketcher mode, either select the Pick tool and click on a room, to create a roof whose base takes the room's form; or, use the line tools to manually draw the roof base's outline.

  2. Select each edge, and in the left hand panel, under Roof Edge Settings, define the Slope Angle (degrees) in the corresponding field and set the Roof Edge Visibility to 'Visible'. For a hip roof, all sides will have the Roof Edge Visibility set to 'Visible'.

  3. Click on Apply to apply changes.

For the SECONDARY ROOF, select the Roof icon from the Architecture ribbon.

  1. Once in the Roof Sketcher mode, either select the Pick tool and click on a room, to create a roof whose base takes the room's form; or, use the line tools to manually draw the roof base's outline.

  2. Select each NON-ATTACHING edge, and in the left hand panel, under Roof Edge Settings, define the Slope Angle (degrees) in the corresponding field and set the Roof Edge Visibility to 'Visible'.

  3. For the edge ATTACHING to the primary roof, define the Slope Angle (degrees) in the corresponding field to (180 - {slope angle of the side it is attaching to}) and set the Roof Edge Visibility to 'Invisible'.

  4. Click on Apply to apply changes.
